Around Us ![]() La Brise is located in the valley of The Lot, one of France's Five Grand rivers of the Midi Pyrenees. It sits on the banks of the River and is just five minutes walk into Puy L'Eveque, a medieval old Port and one of the most beautiful towns in the region.
The walk into town with its timber fronted houses, narrow cobbled streets leads you into the heart of its fortified centre. In medieval days rafts were made to carry barrels of wine to Bordeaux and on to England. As this practice faded the rafts were dismantled and the wood used to build these grand old houses. ![]() For modern requirements there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, bars, bakers, banks & shops (including a supermarket) selling products of the region. The valley takes in one of France’s most vibrant and beautiful areas. Steep hills covered with old oak and beech trees give way to the formality of line vineyards. The meandering river Lot sleepily eases its way through limestone gorges, past majestic chateaux and every so often ancient villages appear magically perched precariously on the side of cliffs.
The river and woodlands surrounding our home are rich in wildlife and every day birds, red squirrels and coypu pay a visit to our riverbank. |
